Special Education & Student Support

STUDENT SUPPORT AT WCS

At Wayside Christian School, we are committed to partnering with families to help every student grow academically and spiritually. We recognize that students learn in different ways and may require varying levels of support.

At this time, Wayside is able to provide academic support through:

  • A designated staff member who offers targeted assistance and tutoring
  • Support is focused primarily on elementary reading and math skills
  • Assistance is available to a limited number of students during the school day

These services are designed to provide additional help for students who may benefit from extra reinforcement in foundational academic areas.

Wayside Christian School does not offer formal special education services and is unable to implement or service Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). In order to be successful at Wayside Christian School, students should be able to function primarily within the general education classroom setting. While we strive to support students as much as possible, our program is not equipped at this time to provide the level of accommodations typically outlined in an IEP

Services through the Public School District

In some cases, students may be found eligible to receive limited auxiliary services (such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, or other support services) through our local public school district while remaining enrolled at Wayside Christian School.

Please note:

  • These services are provided by the public school district
  • Availability and scope of services are determined by the district in cosultation with WCS
  • Services are limited

OUR COMMITMENT

While our resources in this area are limited, our desire is to:

  • Support students to the best of our ability within our current structure
  • Communicate openly and honestly with families
  • Help guide families toward appropriate resources when additional services are needed

If you have questions about your child’s specific needs or how we may be able to support them, we encourage you to reach out. We would be glad to have a conversation and help you determine the best path forward.

Enrollment decisions are made with careful consideration of whether we can appropriately meet a student’s needs within our program.
