“And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”  -Luke 2:52

Taxpayers in the state of Ohio can now contribute to aid for WCS students for free!

$750 donation = $750 tax credit

You have the power to make a difference in the life of an Ohio student by providing access to quality Christian education. Best of all, you can do this without incurring any costs to yourself. The state of Ohio offers tax credits to donors who contribute to K-12 student scholarships through a certified Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO). By donating to Wayside Christian School through the Ohio Christian Education Network (OCEN), you can receive a dollar-for-dollar reduction in your state taxes, up to $750 per individual taxpayer or $1,500 for a married couple filing jointly. Your contribution will directly support a student’s scholarship at WCS.

How it works

Donations can be made through the OCEN, our Scholarship Granting Organization.

Designate your funds to WCS and the money will go directly to a scolarship for a WCS student.

Your donation can be claimed as a dollar for dollar taxt credit when you file your state taxes for the year in which you make your gift.

To recieve a full credit, you must have an Ohio tax liability equal to or greater than the amount of the credit. Contact your tax professional with questions specific to your tax situation.

Absolutely! In this case, the first $750 will be granted a state tax credit, and the amount of the gift beyond the initial $750 may be claimed as a federal and state tax deduction. Please consult with your tax specialist to review your specific tax situation. In the meantime, you can find more information at: www.irs.gov/charities-non-profits/charitable-organizations/charitable-contribution-deductions.

Your OCEN SGO donation can be claimed when you file your Ohio taxes. Gifts made through April 15th can be retroactively applied to the previous year’s taxes. The credit is a dollar-to-dollar reduction in your state tax liability up to $750 per taxpayer. A married couple filing jointly can claim a credit of up to $1500. To receive the full tax credit, you must have an Ohio tax liability equal to or greater than the amount of the credit.

The OCEN accepts donations year-round.

Yes, you may designate your donation to Wayside Christian School which will ensure that the donation will fund a scholarship for a WCS student. Any funds not designated will go into the unrestricted fund to provide scholarships to worthy students at any of the OCEN SGO schools.

Anyone whose taxable income is over $44,250 owes a minimum of $878.42 in state tax. A $750 donation to an SGO would reduce this amount to $128.42. That means $750 of tax money to a scholarship to help a student receive a quality Christian education and $128.42 remains for the state. You can use the chart below from Ohio Department of Taxation to determine your tax liability if you know your Ohio Taxable Income amount.

Taxable state income can be found on page 2 of your state income tax return (Ohio IT 1040) line 13.
